 Harriet Hargrave - 2010

 HARRIET HARGRAVE

August 12-15, 2010

Quilter's Academy - Freshman Year  Thurs & Fri  9am-4pm

There will be an additional session for this class on Wednesday, Aug 11 6:30pm - 9:00pm at no additional fee.  Supplies for this session are:  1/4" graph paper, colored pencils, fabrics, calculator and a small ruler.

Join Harriet Hargrave, internationally known author, instructor and quilter, for two days and upgrade your piecing skills.  This class will cover many subjects that are left out of project classes.  A few of the topics covered, aided by hands-on exercises, will be:  straightening the grain of your fabrics, finding your “true” accurate seam allowance on your sewing machine, learning to press accurately, planning a pressing system and above all extreme accuracy.  Your quilt top’s back will look as good as the front.  Some piecing experience is helpful, but whether you’re a beginner or advanced beginner (or an experienced quilter – we can always learn new tricks and tips), you can really get a lot of this workshop.  Fee:  $95 plus supplies (Lunches included)

Heirloom Machine Quilting - Sat & Sun  9am-4pm

Harriet Hargrave, internationally known author, instructor and quilter, will be teaching this famous two-day workshop.  Unique machine quilting techniques that will turn quilt tops into heirlooms in a fraction of the time it takes to hand quilt will be taught.  The actual sewing is a small part of machine quilting, and the beginning of the class is lecture filled with valuable information so that the student knows what to expect and how to avoid the pitfalls along the way.  A thorough discussion of preparing the quilt top to quilt, work space, thread, needles, etc. will be covered.  Hands-on exercises will be used to develop machine quilting skills, from walking foot ditch quilting, to free motion feathers.  Harriet is a master at teaching students “how to learn to machine quilt”.  Most of all, encouragement and excitement is taught, giving students permission to become great machine quilters.  Fee:  $95 plus supplies (Lunches included)
